What we’ve been up to…….

This week in EYFS we have taken a trip with some aliens to their planet. Whilst we were there we found out that they love underpants! They even come down to Earth to borrow ours! Patty the alien is still too young to visit Earth so we wrote her a letter describing our planet and told her about all of the exciting things that there are to do! In Maths Patty set us some addition problems and we used the part-part -whole method to solve them. We have been busy creating our own aliens, rockets and even tried hard to make pants to wear!

Year 1 have been creating their own stories using the book Chicken Licken. The children started by recounting the story of Chicken Lickin then created their own characters using other animals found within the UK and thought about how to describe these animals. In maths the children learnt about how to give change using coins and have started to learn about making comparisons using weight.

What a busy week it has been in Year 2! We have been adding the finishing touches to our leavers show ready to show parents next week. In Maths we have designed and created our own board games, we have had so much fun playing them! In English we have written a new recipe for George’s Marvellous Medicine. We hope it makes Grandma grumpy! We have finished our learning about toys in the past and consolidated our learning by playing a board game and discussing how toys have changed over the past 100 years. We are looking forward to even more fun next week as our last week as Year 2!

 Travel plan bid success

A huge thank you to Mrs Collins and the School Council in identifying the need for new scooter parks and wellie racks as part of our travel plan. We are pleased to announce that we have been successful and given the full amount of £4,213 because of our ‘commitment to sustainable travel and because we are able complete this work by February 2018. ’ We will be ordering these as soon as possible so that more children can walk or cycle/scooter to school. Watch this space!!
