In EYFS this week we have been thinking about Fire Fighters. We have learnt what to do if the fire bell was to ring at school. We ordered the pictures that demonstrated this and then wrote instructions to accompany each image. We thought they would help any visitors that came to our school. In Maths we have been using the vocabulary full, empty and half full and tried hard to work out which container held the most water to help put a fire out. We thoroughly enjoyed supporting our friends to build fire engines and ladders from construction and junk materials. We are still trying hard to learn our phonemes and digraphs but would benefit from extra consolidation of these at home.

Year 1 had an amazing week learning about the different continents. We have written many different facts, such as: In Europe there are 250 languages spoken, Asia is the biggest continent and the Antarctica was once as warm as California! We’ve really enjoyed our continent adventures!

I’m Maths we have been learning about place value to help us count on in tens. We’ve been using the part-part whole model to partition numbers into tens and ones.

Year 2 this week we have been exploring a certain HORRID character. We have thought of adjectives to describe his dirty, ripped clothes and think he is mischievous and terrible! Do you know who he is? Yes you are right we have been writing about Horrid Henry! In Maths we have started to learn about shape, thinking about 2D shapes and their properties. We then sorted 2D shapes depending on their sides, vertices and lines of symmetry. In History we loved drawing London before and after the fire, thinking very carefully about how the houses were built differently after the tragic event. In Computing we have planned and edited photographs of toys.

Safety Week

Next week we will be teaching your child about keeping safe.  Part of this will be taking part in national internet safety day on Tuesday. We hope of you will be able to join us for our workshop but if you can’t look out for parent mail with information about internet safety and a quiz for you to complete with your child.  All completed entries will be put in a raffle with an electronic prize available for each year group.

Rapunzel pantomime

Thank you to all families who came to watch Miss Anderson in the pantomime of Rapunzel. It was absolutely amazing with an added surprise of Miss Anderson playing a main character ‘Fairy Liquid’!  The children (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed it!  Huge congratulations to Miss Anderson.
