Snow, snow, snow….
Thank you for your support this week during the difficult road and footpath conditions.  We have everyone’s safety in mind when we make decisions about school opening and closing times. We appreciate the efforts made by both parents and staff in getting to school safely.

We hope you found our new methods of communication useful – Parentmail and Facebook. What we’ve been up to…….

In EYFS we have been on a journey with Superhero George who has helped us save the world! We have been thinking about recycling, reusing, repairing and reducing. We started by sorting all the junk into our classrooms according to their properties making sure that they all went into the correct recycling bins. We made sure we turned the lights off to save electricity, repaired any broken toys and reused the junk to make our own mini beasts! We then wrote a letter to George asking him for further recycling help! In Maths we have been exploring 2D shape and their properties. Have a look around the home for some as well (don’t forget a 2D shape is a flat shape we cannot pick it up!).  We have also had fun in the snow!

Please remember to return the sponsored bounce money as some children that bought in original forms are still to return collected monies!

Year 1 have been amazing this week despite the snow! We enjoyed a walk in the snow and were able to use our senses to describe the change in weather. We have been learning about algorithms in ICT and have written our own one for making a salad. We had to consider each step and ensure we wrote short, clear and simple instructions. I’m English we have been learning about Jack and Beanstalk and were able to hot seat the characters. This gave us an opportunity to learn more about each character through asking them questions related to the story.

Year 2 Wow what an exciting week it has been! The weather has been beautiful and we’ve had fun in the snow! In Guided reading we have explored features of non-function texts. Using these features to answer questions about what we have read for example the contents page and glossary. In R.E we have thought about special places. We have linked what special places we have to the special places that Muslims visit. We listened to a story about a cat and its string, teaching us the importance of sharing with others.
