The Downs View Governing Board meets regularly at the school. We work with the Headteacher and staff to deliver the Key priorities identified in the School Plan. I have been asked to let you know after each meeting about how we are working to improve the school.
Tracy Kent, the Headteacher reports to the meeting on what the school has achieved since the previous meeting, If you would like more information about Downs View Governors, please visit our page on the website.
The Chair was re-elected to the Governing Board and Tina Ozdemir was elected as Vice-Chair.
Governors met in October 2018 and it was reported that the School Improvement Partner noted in Year 1, a better in-depth learning and the increased attainment of those with a lower starting point. The School had also undergone a Peer Review which was favourable.
Some of the Governors attended monitoring visits training and we reviewed the Monitoring Visits policy to reflect our learning. The Board is also undertaking a development programme https://www.governorspace.co.uk/to improve the core function of the board and set vision, ethos and strategic direction.
Mrs Kent our Headteacher reported on the key priorities from the 2018-19 school plan and the milestones needed to achieve them. We reviewed the school safeguarding policy which was introduced in September 2018. She reported that budget would be challenging this year and the school aims to raise pupil attendance to 97%.
Finally, we have a vacancy for a new co-opted Governor and we would welcome enquiries from members of the community or Parents as to what the role involves. Please let the Chair know, via the School Office if you would like to attend as an observer at the next board meeting on 29 November 2018.
