The Downs View Governing Board meets regularly at the school and our last meeting was on 23 May 2019. At each meeting we discuss how the Headteacher and staff are working to deliver the key priorities in the school plan. If you would like more information about Downs View Governors, please visit our page on the website.
We discussed the Headteacher’s report which included data and pupil attendance continues to be an issue which impacts on pupil progress. We also discussed budget challenges and Governors were pleased to note that a new Business Manager has been appointed. Any ideas for raising extra funds would be welcomed by the school. We are exploring how the Forest School arrangements can be taken forward for the next academic year.
The Headteacher gave a presentation on the new Ofsted framework which this will be rolled out to schools and governors. Class floor books continue to be excellent evidence of teaching and learning, along with Governor Monitoring visits.
School policies: We agreed the new staff wellbeing policy and reviewed the PSHE and SMSC policies. Governors are continuing to work with others to improve parking arrangements outside the school and the Chair and Vice Chair have met with the councillor for our ward, to see if anything further can be achieved.
